On Tuesday, 11 February 2025, UNPAR signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with TYMBA Skills, an educational institution that focuses on professional skills development and international certification. This cooperation aims to expand opportunities for UNPAR students, especially in the Faculty of Economics, to obtain professional certifications that will enrich their competencies in the world of work. The MoU signing was attended by the Dean of UNPAR’s Faculty of Economics, Brigita Meylianti Sulungbudi, Ph.D., ASCA, CIPM, TYMBA Skills representative, Mohamed Airil bin Md Razali, and UNPAR Rector, Prof. Ir. Tri Basuki Joewono, Ph.D.

In her remarks, the Dean of UNPAR’s Faculty of Economics, Brigita Meylianti Sulungbudi, Ph.D., ASCA, CIPM, stated, “I am delighted that UNPAR is starting a cooperation with TYMBA Skills to increase the possibility of our students obtaining international professional certifications. This is expected to complement their undergraduate degrees to face the competition in finding jobs, especially as accountants and auditors.”

He also added that UNPAR’s Faculty of Economics, with more than 500 students in the accounting department, has a large potential market for this certification program. “I hope we can expand this cooperation to other majors such as management and economics, even sustainability-related certifications that we have discussed before.”

Mohamed Airil bin Md Razali, TYMBA Skills representative, expressed his gratitude and honor for the opportunity to work together. “UNPAR is the first university we are working with in Bandung, and we are very honored to be given this opportunity. We started with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification, and in almost two years we have helped over two hundred students with a pass rate of over ninety percent.”

He went on to express his belief that this partnership will give students the impetus to be more confident in the face of professional certification. “What we hope is that the faculty gives students an element of confidence, because their success, whether they pass or not, is our responsibility to help them with our methodology,” he said.

Furthermore, Mohamed also emphasized the importance of utilizing TYMBA Skills’ global network. “Our network in Kuala Lumpur and other countries provides a great opportunity to open global access for UNPAR students,” he added. He hoped that this collaboration would not only help UNPAR students in obtaining certification, but also give them the opportunity to join an international network of professionals.

UNPAR’s Rector, Prof. Ir. Tri Basuki Joewono, Ph.D., also delivered his speech highlighting UNPAR’s 70th anniversary this year. “UNPAR’s Faculty of Economics was the first one here, so our faculty is very old, but what is more important is how we continue to grow and become stronger,” he said.

He emphasized the importance of international cooperation to improve the quality of education at UNPAR and expand the university’s positive impact on a global level. “We are eager to expand our programs, not only nationally but also internationally. The cooperation with TYMBA through this certification is the right step to improve the quality of education and help our students develop even better,” said Prof. Tri Basuki. He hopes that this cooperation will open up opportunities for other international programs, not only in the field of certification but also in the development of a more global curriculum.

The partnership includes giving UNPAR students access to international certifications, particularly in accounting and auditing, which can enrich their qualifications. “We want UNPAR students to have the opportunity to obtain internationally recognized professional certifications, as it will greatly assist them in entering the increasingly competitive world of work,” Brigita said. In addition, TYMBA Skills also offers access to their global network, which will provide job and internship opportunities at reputable companies around the world.

With this MoU in place, both UNPAR and TYMBA Skills hope that this collaboration will provide long-term benefits for students. Brigita also added, “We hope that this cooperation is not only limited to accounting and auditing certification, but can also be extended to other programs in management and economics. We also hope to develop certifications related to sustainability, which is becoming increasingly important in the world of work.” Meanwhile, Mohamed concluded his remarks with the hope that this collaboration will bring great benefits to UNPAR students, “We hope this collaboration will continue successfully and bring great benefits to UNPAR students.”

This cooperation is a big step for UNPAR in facing the challenges of education globalization, which not only focuses on improving academic quality, but also on professional skills needed in the international job market. By taking advantage of this opportunity, it is expected that UNPAR students will be better prepared to face global competition by having certifications that are recognized in various parts of the world.
