Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Yos Sudarso School of Computer Science (STIKOM) on Friday, August 11, 2023. The collaboration between UNPAR and STIKOM Yos Sudarso is expected to have a significant impact on the implementation of the University’s Tridharma (Three Pillars of Higher Education) mandate, particularly the Merdeka Campus initiative and resource enhancement.

The MoU signing was conducted by UNPAR’s Rector, Prof. Tri Basuki Joewono, Ph.D., represented by UNPAR’s Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Henky Muljana, S.T., M.Eng, and STIKOM Yos Sudarso’s Chairman, Romanus Edy Prabowo, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D.

Also present at the MoU signing were UNPAR’s Vice Rector for Collaboration, Alumni, Innovation, and Business, Ir. Catharina Badra Nawangpalupi, Ph.D; and Dean of UNPAR’s Faculty of Industrial Technology, Dr. Thedy Yogasara, S.T., M.Eng.Sc.

From STIKOM Yos Sudarso, the MoU signing was witnessed by Deputy Chairperson for HR and Finance, Dr. Antonius Ary Setyawan, S.S., MA.; Deputy Chairperson for Academic Affairs, Dhany Faizal Racma, S.Kom., M.Kom.; and Deputy Chairperson for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Collaboration, Carolina Ety Widjayanti, SE., MM.

Several aspects are covered in the MoU, including research, teaching, community engagement, and/or human resource development.

Vice Rector Catharina, in her address, emphasized that the collaboration between UNPAR and STIKOM Yos Sudarso would undoubtedly bring significant benefits to both parties.

“We are very open and delighted to engage in various forms of collaboration, be it academic, research, or community engagement. Other collaborative forms will naturally be based on the needs of students from both sides and also for the development of human capacity,” she stated.

Meanwhile, STIKOM Chairman Romanus Edy welcomed the collaboration that has been established with UNPAR.

“Our hope is that in the implementation of Tridharma, one of our collaboration’s objectives is to explore the possibility of sending our S2 students, especially if there are suitable candidates, to study at UNPAR to become potential lecturers at STIKOM Yos Sudarso,” he explained.

Another area of potential collaboration to be explored after the MoU is research and publication. He encouraged lecturers who regularly conduct research to make their research competitive. This should be followed by a continuous publication of the research, which also needs to be promoted.

“That’s perhaps a challenge in our institution. Research is ongoing, but continuous publication still needs to be promoted. One way is to collaborate by involving researchers from UNPAR. The same goes for publications, to gain enrichment from UNPAR related to publications,” he stated.

Additionally, another concern of STIKOM Yos Sudarso is the enhancement of Human Resources in Education (Tendik). The implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (Independent Learning, Free Campus) policy, especially student exchange, is also a mutual focus.

“We hope to obtain significant collaboration from UNPAR,” he concluded.
