Bandung, 16 August 2025 – Universitas Katolik Parahyangan (UNPAR) held a meeting with the Macao Doctoral Think Tank (DTT), a non-governmental organization (NGO) that is open to collaborations in academic, cultural, and social fields.
The meeting began with an introduction to UNPAR’s academic programs delivered by Bapak Reinard Primulando, Ph.D., Director of the International Office. This was followed by a presentation on Macao DTT’s profile. Macao itself is home to more than five higher education institutions and over 50,000 students, with more than 150 doctoral degree programs. Collaborative topics of interest could range from widely discussed areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and sustainable development.
Prof. Iris from the Faculty of Education at St. Joseph University highlighted “While both institutions are committed to the SDGs, UNPAR takes a more comprehensive approach.”
Macao’s current development is strongly oriented towards finance and technology. One of the delegates, a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine in Hong Kong and now working at a major clinical testing company in China, shared insights on research in disease studies and software development for reporting systems, supported by a strong publication record.
The meeting also marked the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UNPAR and Macao DTT. Both institutions agreed that collaboration could begin with small but solid initiatives, such as academic exchanges, seminars, and joint research. Potential areas of cooperation include collaboration with UNPAR’s Faculty of Medicine as well as opportunities for exchange programs in informatics and AI research in Macao.
