
The International Student Conference (ISC) 2024, hosted by the Directorate of International Affairs, Partnership, and Alumni of Universitas Katolik Parahyangan (UNPAR), has concluded with resounding success. Held under the theme “Empowering Youth and Local Voices for Human-Centric, Sustainable and Inclusive Smart Cities,” this annual flagship event aimed to foster collaboration and learning among students from diverse backgrounds on pressing global issues.
ISC 2024 served as a platform for local and international students to delve into various facets of creating sustainable and inclusive smart cities. From January 22nd onwards, participants engaged in enriching discussions, workshops, and site visits, gaining insights from esteemed speakers representing renowned institutions such as UNESCO, University Rovira i Virgili, European University Viadrina, James Madison University, Food Bank, UNHCR, and the Government of Bandung City.
Throughout the conference, participants had the opportunity to learn from notable speakers on building smart cities, as well as learning bahasa Indonesia and traditional Indonesian dance. They also had the opportunity to learn more about sustainable cities by visiting sites and learning about the Indonesian community in Bandung, such as Buruan Sae and Kampung Cibunut. Besides that, participants also have the opportunity to learn about Indonesian Culture through Batik Komar and Saung Angklung Udjo.
One of the highlights of ISC 2024 was the opportunity for attendees to present their insights and findings on smart city development and Indonesian culture. These final presentations showcased the depth of knowledge acquired during the conference and highlighted the potential of empowered youth to drive positive change in their communities and beyond.
As ISC 2024 draws to a close, participants depart as members of a global network of empowered youths, with the knowledge and determination to contribute to a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
