Joint Master Degree Program in Business Administration with Jiangsu University, China

Master of Social Science Program is designed to provide training program to obtain academic and analytical, as well and practical capabilities. Beside academic quality, graduates are also expected to have integrity, professionalism, and dedication. Emphasized on theory and concept aimed to train students with high competency in researching and analyzing to offer solution to various socio-political problems.
Globalization in the Economic, Political and Cultural fields are demanding competitive and competent human resources. For this purpose, the curriculum of Master of Social Science’s is designed with consideration to theoretical and practical aspects.

Matriculation Program

Matriculation program is designed as a bridging for students with study background other than Business, Management, or Economics. The matriculation program is compulsory and conducted for 1 (one)/2 (two) month(s) duration with 8 times class scheduled prior the first semester of the Joint Degree program.
The program consist of four subjects with 0 (zero) credits units, those are 1) Foundations of Accounting and Finance, 2) Marketing Concepts and Practice, 3) Managing Business Operations, and 4) Managing People.

Recruitment and Admission

The joint degree program is open for graduates from various fields of study. Basic requirements are:

  1. Hold Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, with minimal GPA 2,75;
  2. An adequate knowledge of English (Academic IELTS or TOEFL). The applicant is expected to send the certified copy either Academic IELTS (min. 5.5 overall/6.0 on parts), TOEFL (min. paper-based: 525, computer-based: 196, internet-based: 70), or Cambridge Proficiency Examination (CAE).
  3. CV and Personal Statement (compulsory);
  4. Two recommendation letters, from previous supervisor and/or lecturer (compulsory);
  5. Matriculation program (optional).

Tuition fee and scholarship

The tuition fee for the whole joint degree program is Rp. 40,000,000.00 (forty million rupiahs) to UNPAR, and RMB 30,000 (thirty thousand RMB) to Jiangsu University. Scholarship is partially available for the first batch of the Joint Degree Program, either from UNPAR and or Jiangsu University if the requirement is fulfilled.

Living cost

Life in Bandung is relatively cheap, generally the living costs ranges from Rp. 3,180,000 (USD 275) to Rp. 6,330,000 (USD 550) per month. Similar situation is also applied in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province, whereas the monthly living cost ranges from RMB 2,300 to RMB 4,500 per month. However, the real living costs can vary per person, depending on the lifestyle.

Why?

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have become the backbone of Indonesia’s economic power. We find our responsibility to contribute knowledge and competence in delivering postgraduate study in SMEs.

It is certainly going to empower the Indonesia’s SMEs to survive at their business competition and to increase their ability to compete at this globalization era.

One of concentration of this Joint degree Program will be about the managing and strengthening business of SMEs and how to make them ready to be one of business players at international level.

The joint degree program developed three basic competencies as follows, which is started by developing a business mapping phenomena, transform it into a reliable business, and then analyze the business comprehensively as the basis of decision making.

Another concentration of this joint degree program is on general knowledge which is applicable for any level of business situation.

What the Program is?

It is collaboration between Master of Social Science of Universitas Katolik Parahyangan and Master of Business Administration of Jiangsu University.

The Program is designed to create an excellent business leader who has integrity, quality, high competence and capabilities, and strong social responsibility.

These profiles are achieved by the three competencies, namely (a) capability in mapping business phenomena, (b) capability in transforming the business phenomena maps into a reliable business, (c) capability in analyzing comprehensively as the basis of decision making.

Degree

The graduated will be awarded with degree of Master of Social Science – M.Si. from Universitas Katolik Parahyangan, and Master of Business Administration – MBA, from Jiangsu University.

Curriculum and length of study

The figure shows the Joint Master Degree scheme. The length of study to complete the program is 4 (four) semesters upon successful completion of 38 credits. Students spend the first semester at UNPAR studying full-time. After the completion of the first semester, the students spend second and third semester full time study at Jiangsu University.

Finally, the students return back to the UNPAR for completing the fourth semester and writing final thesis or final project, based on UNPAR regulation. The complete curriculum is presented above.

Jiangsu University

Jiangsu University is one of the universities recommended by the Indonesian Embassy for China. Jiangsu University is one of the Top 100 Universities in China. Jiangsu University is also selected as one of the universities where the international students may study with the Chinese Government special scholarship-fund support program.

Jiangsu University is located at Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province. In 2003, Jiangsu University was approved to offer MBA program. So far, 1,035 students have been enrolled.
